Hugh Hefner Interviews Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski

Playboy After Dark was a 1969 – 70 TV show, in which Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner hosted a swinging (in the ‘Swinging Sixties’ sense) party, where bands would play – and Hef would interview his guests. It’s all very effortlessly cool and groovy.

Here are clips from a 1969 show, with Hef chatting to “the very beautiful” Sharon Tate and “the very talented” Roman Polanski. This was shortly before the… erm… ‘unpleasantness’.

Hefner’s Playboy organisation would later produce Polanski’s version of Macbeth, a brutal and savage reaction to his wife’s death at the hands of Manson Family members.
