When Britain’s sex superstar went behind the scenes on the closed set of the much-anticipated horror film.
In 1979, Alien was shot on closed sets at Shepperton Studios – the production determined to keep both the Alien in particular and the film as a whole under a cloud of secrecy that seems unthinkable today.
Yet somehow, Britain’s porn queen Mary Millington – at the time shooting her own classic The Playbirds – managed to behind the scenes on the money, posing for these great photos with the special effects crew and (apparently) signing her name on the film’s spaceship.
The result is a collection of great images that bring the two sides of British filmmaking – the big-budget, Hollywood-backed spectacular and the cheap and cheerful sexploitation film – together.
