Amazon’s American Playboy is an upcoming documentary series about thwe life of Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy magazine and the man who, it could be argued, did more to usher in the sexual revolution than anyone else. Usually, documentaries about people in the sex industry – especially here in the UK – take a nose-holding, moralising tone, but the simple fact is that many of the freedoms you take for granted were won in hard-fought battles by Hefner and his ilk, and so this series – taken from Hef’s own perspective – should be well worth watching.
