Once again, it’s time to round up what people have been reading on The Reprobate in the last year.
This year’s ten most popular new posts are a decidedly mixed bag – while sex continues to sell, we probably haven’t posted as many sexy pieces in 2023 as in previous years – not for any newly prudish reason, we hasten to add, simply because that’s been the way things turned out. Beyond that, cult movies and art make a showing, as does another of our occasional pieces criticising cultural sacred cows that get a lot of viral hate reads from people who have never visited the site before or will do so again (our piece on John Noakes certainly seemed to cause a fair amount of online fury).
If we look at the ongoing popularity of older pieces, we can see that several of the same articles that have been in the top tens of previous years are here again. We continue to be pleasantly baffled at the seemingly insatiable interest in Mayfair magazine covers, a gallery dating back to 2017 that has never been outside the top ten views per month. It’s gratifying to see that a few of our lengthy deep dives into obscure stories have proven to be continually popular as well – we aim to do much more of this sort of thing in the coming year.
Things are about to change here at The Reprobate – a coming revamp and refocus that you’ll see early in 2024. Rest assured that everything you love will still be here – if anything in greater quantity – alongside a lot more varied explorations of the weird, the wild and the forgotten. As ever, we encourage you to join in with writing, artwork or simply suggestions of things that we should be writing about – and creatives among you should feel free to forward your work for us to cover.
