Continuing our series of video footage unearthed from our archive of DV tapes, here is the German Psychobilly band The Tazmanian Devils playing live in Nottingham. The venue is unknown – for some reason, our usual meticulous labelling failed us on this occasion – but it was probably Junktion 7. This was shot at some point in 2006 when the band were touring in support of their Evil Boppin’ LP. This is footage from one camera of a two-camera shoot (the other tape is currently missing in action). unseen until now and presented here as it came off the mini-DV tape, unedited. It’s lively stuff, though fans of Klub Foot and other chaotic, violently tribal psychobilly events might find it all a bit too restrained,
The Tazmanian Devils – not to be confused with the American New Wave band from the 1980s of the same name – formed in Quedlinburg in 2003 and recorded three albums between 2006 and 2009 on their own Razmataz label. I’ve no idea what happened to them – but their Bandcamp page seems to be still active so perhaps they are still out there, boppin’ away.
