As it happens, October 11th 2008 was also the main day of the Robin Hood Beer Festival, Nottingham’s annual booze-up that takes place in the grounds of Nottingham Castle. One of the biggest beer festivals in the country, it was an event that I was not going to miss. This did mean, however, that I had spent a good ten hours drinking before heading along to Rock City. Did this enhance my camera work? Curiously, I think it did – it certainly meant that I was less inhibited about clambering on stage for those all-important close-up shots.
On stage with the Satanic Sluts was Georgina Baillie, a glamour model who worked under the name Voluptua and had appeared in everything from Babestation to girlie magazines alongside her Slut work. At the time, she was just another performer. But a week after this show, she was propelled to national fame in the incident forever known as Sachsgate, when priapic narcissist Russell Brand and his lickspittle fanboy Jonathan Ross left a series of abusive and lewd phone calls about her with her grandfather – beloved actor Andrew Sachs. You probably know all this already. At the time, I had no real outlet for the footage so my ability to cash in on her instant fame was non-existent. Oh well.
The subscriber footage below is essentially unedited – 38 minutes of bumping and grinding by the four performers. Before you ask, no – there is no nudity.
